Honors AlumniGreetings, Honors Alumni! We are proud to have a strong group of Honors graduates around the country and around the world. Whether you graduated last semester or forty years ago from the Honors Program, you will notice that many things have changed and been improved upon while maintaining the core values of the Program. In addition to staffing changes, programmatic changes are also taking effect. President Geoffroy has charged us with creating more opportunities for Honors students. Working with a small committee of faculty and Honors students, we have created a plan that will provide students a comprehensive Honors experience from the Freshman Honors Program through graduation. This plan will be developed and implemented over the next few years. Included in our plans are a summer research program that will allow students to continue the research they started in the Freshman Mentor Program, additional course offerings including an interdisciplinary capstone experience that will allow Honors students to re-unite before graduation to explore societal issues in a unique way, and a program to encourage and support international experiences. We are hoping that Honors alumni will play an important role in the changes we plan – giving us advice, mentoring Honors students, and providing much needed support for Honors initiatives. We have already begun the summer research program with seed money provided by one of our alums, supplemented by the generous contributions many of you give during our annual Call-a-Thon. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns regarding the University Honors Program, please feel free to contact the Honors staff members. Thank you for your continued support!
