Applying to the University Honors Program
First-Year Honors Program (FHP) (incoming students)
1. Application on-line * Due April 2, 2010
Applicants must have been admitted to ISU prior to submitting an Honors application
Eligibility is determined from:
English ACT score of at least 24 (SAT Verbal score of 550) -and-
1 of the following:
ACT Composite score of at least 30 (or 1320 M/V SAT score)
Top 5% of Graduation Class
Nat’l Merit or Achievement Finalist
2. Email or submit application to:

3. Approval/Denial will be mailed out within 3 weeks
4. Orientation Info. mailed out (for June sessions)
5. Fall Semester, will complete Courses:
HON 121 Seminar
English 250H
Library 160
6. Spring Semester, submit ‘Member Application’ to remain & graduate with Honors
Member (current students)
1.Application on-line* Due October 23, 2009 to be considered for F '09.
Eligibility is determined from:
Minimum of 48 Credits Left
Program of Study (if under 60 credits left)
Meet ‘Good Standing’ Requirements
2. Return &/or Mail Application to:
Univ. Honors Program

Ames, Iowa 50011-1150
3. Approval/Denial will be mailed out within 3 weeks
4. College will contact via. e-mail
5. Review Graduation Requirements
6. Submit ‘Program of Study’ form, to college
7. Submit ‘Project Proposal’ form, to college
8. Present Project Poster (information mailed prior to event)
9. Receive Honors Cords & Certificate, from college or Honors Admin.
** Re-Apply when Changing Colleges.
Due October 23, 2009 to be considered for F'09.
Transfer (same as 'Member' with the following additions)
1. Applications available in 2130 Jischke Honors
2. Offered admission to Iowa State
3. Transfer GPA of 3.5 or higher
4. Mininmum of 60 credits remaining
5. Required to attend Information Session in first semester
6. Required to take at least 1 Honors Seminar in first semester
7. Required to submit ‘Program of Study’ in first semester
