What is an Honors student? An Honors student methodically chooses from among the resources of the University to assemble the best total educational experience possible, in the classroom as well as outside of it. Although most Honors students typically "do more" and exceed minimum requirements for graduation in their chosen major, what distinguishes Honors students is their curiosity and drive to learn and experience broadly, across traditional boundaries and in unconventional ways. An Honors student is a fulfilled student Honors students pursue their personal educational goals by individualizing their programs of study and complementing their classroom work with involvement in research projects in the University's laboratories. They take Honors seminars on contemporary topics in small group, highly interactive settings, take part in a broad range of stimulating extracurricular activities coordinated through their own organization, the Honors Student Board. Many Honors students choose to live in designated Honors housing and form long-lasting bonds with other students who share their curiosity, drive, energy and goals. |
